Chitwan Bamboo Lodge is rooted in Meghauli, connected to Nepal, and shaped by the wildlife and communities of Chitwan.
Ram — Founder
Ram grew up in Chitwan, Meghauli, Nepal. After finishing school, he went to Pokhara to find work and support his family. He worked for a rafting company for three years and became a safety kayaker — sometimes also working as a trekking guide, bringing visitors to his home village to show them a different side of Nepal and its culture.
Petra — Co-Founder
In Pokhara, Ram met Petra. Together they developed the vision for what Chitwan Bamboo Lodge would become. Petra supports international outreach, tourism promotion, guest engagement, and business development — connecting the lodge with visitors from around the world.
Since 2008 Ram and Petra have been based in Switzerland, but it was always Ram's dream to return to his village and give people the opportunity to discover the beauty of this place.
And so Chitwan Bamboo Lodge was born.
A country of extraordinary geographic diversity, from the Himalayas to the subtropical Terai lowlands where Chitwan sits.

Explorearrow_forwardBorn and raised in Meghauli, Chitwan, Ram built his career in Nepal's tourism industry — rafting operations, safety kayaking, and trekking, guiding international visitors across Nepal. That experience shaped his vision to create a community-focused eco-lodge in his home village.
Petra met Ram during his tourism career and has been integral to developing the lodge's vision. She supports international outreach and tourism promotion, guest engagement, hospitality, and business development — helping Chitwan Bamboo Lodge connect with visitors from around the world.
Dhai is Ram's older brother. He lived for many years in India and Kathmandu, working as a cook and tailor. Since the opening of the Bamboo Lodge he is manager and driver - and thanks to the lodge, he can stay close to his wife and children.
Aita Ram is our senior jungle guide. He does his work with passion - years of experience in Chitwan mean he knows the jungle, its trails, and its wildlife like no one else.
Arun has been with us since the very beginning. His knowledge of and passion for all animals is remarkable - guests consistently say their experience with Arun is unforgettable.
Beyond the core team, the lodge operates through a broad local network rooted in Meghauli and the surrounding communities.
