Learn to cook dal bhat, mo:mo, and a traditional Tharu dish from the local cook who makes your meals — an intimate, hands-on 2-3 hour experience that will follow you home.
The cooking class starts in the garden — selecting fresh herbs and vegetables for the session. You then work alongside our local cook in the kitchen, learning techniques that have been passed through generations of Tharu and Nepali home cooking.
You will make a full dal bhat (the lentil soup, the rice, and at least one vegetable curry), a batch of mo:mo dumplings from scratch, and one Tharu speciality chosen by the cook based on what is seasonal.
The class ends with you eating what you made — with the full dal bhat experience of refills and the satisfaction of having made it yourself. Recipes are written up and sent to you to take home.
