Sustainability
Sustainability at the lodge is practical and ongoing — solar panels on every roof, water managed carefully, and organic waste returned to the soil. Here is how we run a low-impact operation.
Rooftop solar panels power lighting, water heating, and equipment across the lodge. We are working toward full solar independence from the grid.
Roof catchment and management systems reduce our dependency on ground water during the dry season. Greywater is managed carefully to prevent contamination.
All organic kitchen and garden waste is composted. The resulting compost feeds our organic garden, closing the nutrient loop on site.
LED lighting throughout, passive cooling through building design, and natural ventilation in all rooms reduce electricity demand significantly.
A pesticide-free kitchen garden produces seasonal vegetables and herbs. Soil health is maintained through composting and traditional organic methods.
A solar-powered water filtration system supplies safe drinking water on-site, eliminating single-use plastic bottles entirely.
